Make-up work/Retesting:

It is the responsibility of the student to schedule a tutorial time and schedule a time to make up assignments and/or retake a test.

Tutorials:

After school  tutorials are available Wednesday and Thursday  by appointment only. Please send an email to make an appointment.

Supplies & Fees:

All dancers will be required to purchase specific dance attire (T-shirt & shoes) that will be used for class and performances. T-shirt orders will be placed online and will be due September 2nd. Female dancers must provide their own solid black, ankle length, fitted stretch leggings. The leggings cannot have additional colors, designs, prints, sheerness, lattice, texture or inserts. They must be dense/opaque (not see through).  Male dancers may wear any solid black pants that allow full range of motion for movement.

Discipline:

Disruptive and/or noncompliant students will be issued discipline as needed. Students who fail to follow classroom procedures and/or school rules will call home in the presence of the dance teacher to discuss conflicts with a parent/guardian. Other conflicts may result in teacher detentions, a parent conference and/or a principal referral.

Required Performances:

All students enrolled in dance class will participate in performances. These performances are not optional, but required. The performances fulfill the requirements established by the state of Texas listed in the dance TEKS. All performances will count as a TEST grade.  In order to ensure child safety I will not be posting performances on our school website. Instead parents can access performance flyers through Remind and Google Classroom.

Media Disclaimer:

The NRJHDance Department records numerous performances throughout the year. Many of these performances will be posted via YouTube, social media sites as well as for promotion on the Alvin ISD web page.

Student Expectations:

This is described in more detail on the class syllabus but the most important thing students and parents need to know is: This is a very fun class but it is also physically demanding. Dance requires a lot of structure, poise and athleticism. The expectations are high and this class is not an easy A. In order to pass, you must master skills.
