RPJH Social Studies Department

Always remember that you are your child's first and best teacher

5 Ways to Support Social Studies at Home

1. Talk about the holidays, discuss the meanings of these holidays, the people and events they celebrate, and how they impact our lives today.

2. Take every opportunity you can to explain to your children about our civic rights and responsibilities.

3. Discuss with your children the topics you learn about while reading the paper, surfing the web, or watching the news.

4. Visit monuments, memorials, libraries, parks, and other public spaces.

5. Learn together about the history and geography of your community, state, and country.
