Alpha L-Z

I was born and raised in Arkansas. I went to the University of Arkansas (where I was a Razorback) in the 1900's. I moved to Texas in 2001 where I coached and taught in Alvin ISD. I have three children. One in junior high, one in high school, and on recent graduate! Being part of the Rodeo Palms Junior High Razorbacks feels like being home. I am very excited to be a part of this new and exciting tradition.

STAAR

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) program beginning in spring 2012. The STAAR program assesses students in grades 3–8 in reading and math. Students in grades 5 and 8 will take a Science STAAR assessment and students in grade 8 will take a Social Studies STAAR assessment.

For high school, students will take a Biology, Algebra I, English I, English II and U.S. History STAAR EOC assessment. These five EOCs, in addition to completing course requirements, are required to graduate high school.

6th Grade Social Changes - What to Expect (article link)

Our 6th graders are being teamed. The teaming is based on the students 4 core teachers, only.  There are many positives to doing this, such as, teachers/counselors/specialty programs being able to conference with each other about their students.  Students having consistency with rules/expectations and discipline will make for a much smoother transition from Elementary to Junior High. Together, we will make our newest Razorbacks successful!

Credit by Exam

2022-2023 Credit by Examination without Prior Instruction

Students wishing to accelerate a grade level in elementary or middle school or one or more classes at the high school level may take a Credit by Examination (CBE) provided they have not received prior instruction in that grade level or course. If you are interested in taking a CBE, please visit your campus counselor and request a brochure and application. All CBE applications must be returned to the campus before the deadline set for each administration. A deposit of $25 per test is required to reserve the exam, which is fully refunded after the completion of testing. For students taking a K-12 Credit by Exam, exams are offered in October, February, June and July. If you have questions concerning testing, you can contact your campus or the district assessment office at 281-245-2450.
