If you've ever doubted how awesome our Wilder PTO mommas are, let this show you just how incredible they truly are. Here's a little backstory. Back in May, before school ended, Marek was heavily damaged, much like Wilder was, including the library. At Wilder, the library was one of the few places spared and served as our command post for all things technology-related, ensuring we could operate without loss when school started back in August. Over the summer, the classrooms were the main focus, and the library was somewhat put on hold until our upcoming fall break. Now, jump ahead to a couple of weeks ago: Mrs. Buchanan reached out to Mrs. Sullivan and asked whether the rumors about Marek's Library were true and whether they could use some help getting things ready for the upcoming renovation project. Mrs. Sullivan reached out to Marek librarian, Mrs. Phipps, and she was flabbergasted that another school wanted to help. Today, these sweet Wilder mommas showed up ready to work at Marek, stayed until the job was done, and offered to return once the renovations are complete so Marek students could have their library back as soon as possible. This is a beautiful example of Alvin ISD's #WeSeeYou in action. Thank you, Wilder PTO, for going above and beyond, for seeing a need in our Alvin ISD community and answering the call. Friday at Wilder, we will kick off our Alvin ISD Book Bus donation drive by honoring and celebrating the Queen herself, Dolly Parton. In 1995, Dolly created the Imagination Library with the sole mission of putting books in kids' hands at no cost to parents. Since its inception, Dolly's organization has donated over 300 million books to children across the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland. Though our mission to fill the Book Bus with books is smaller, it matters just as much as Dolly's original mission. If you have gently used books your Wilder Wolf has outgrown, please consider donating them to the Book Bus. At the front entrance near the front office, you'll see a large bin for book drop-offs. Each year, we love to highlight our former Wilder Wolves who are accomplishing great things at Shadow Creek High School. Today, we celebrate these three former Wolves who just qualified as National Merit Semifinalists. These high school seniors earned one of the highest PSAT/NMSQT scores, placing them in the top 0.5% of students in Texas.
