Mission Statement: The mission of the counseling program of Alvin ISD is to enhance students’ social, emotional, academic, and career development. By serving all students K-12, the counseling program provides age-appropriate services, removes barriers, and provides support that allows students to follow their own path and discover new possibilities on the journey to graduation, college, and career.

Social Emotional Counselor
As a Social-Emotional Learning Counselor, my primary role is to support students in developing the skills necessary for emotional intelligence, resilience, and healthy relationships. I work with individuals and groups to foster self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and effective communication. Through a variety of activities, such as mindfulness practices, role-playing, and collaborative problem-solving, I help students identify their emotions and learn to navigate social dynamics. I also provide a safe space for them to express their feelings and experiences, promoting a culture of openness and understanding. In collaboration with teachers and parents, I strive to create an inclusive environment that prioritizes mental well-being. By integrating SEL into the school curriculum, I aim to empower students to manage stress, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with the tools they need to thrive both academically and personally, fostering a supportive community where everyone can succeed.
