About me:
I graduated from the University of Houston in 2014 with a BFA in Sculpture, and immediately began teaching k-6th grade art at a growing charter school in Katy Texas. In the four years I worked there the school grew to be k-12 and I had the honor of building the 6-12th grade art program.
Next I spent three years teaching in an elementary school in Galveston Texas. I loved working with tiny artists, and seeing the beach every day was super cool but really missed working with older students.
I moved to Manvel Jr High at the start of the 2022/2023 school year and I have truly loved working in this community. I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Knezek to grow the art program here at Manvel Jr High.
Why art?
Art is the expression of the human soul! Art gives us another way to communicate with other people. Art connects us to other cultures throughout time, history and the world! No matter where or when you are from, you can look at a work of art and connect to the experience of the artist. Art gives us the power to communicate, tell stories, express emotions, document history, share political ideas, and record life events. I feel like understanding, appreciating, and creating art are all super powers, and I am truly honored that I have the opportunity to share this super power with the next generation.
