Campus Information
AHS offers 481 courses including Advanced Placement, Pre-Advanced Placement, and Dual Credit classes to prepare our students for their post-secondary future.
There are numerous opportunities to get involved with clubs or extracurricular organizations at AHS. Some of these opportunities include the Bowling Club, HOSA, DECA, Debate, Drama Club, FCCLA, Project Lead the Way, and Digital Art Club, among others. Our dance team, The Jacketeers, are a nationally recognized dance team, as is our Colorguard. Many of our campus organizations compete at the state and national level and experience much success.
Our campus has the only Marine Corps JROTC program in the district. Our young Marine Corps cadets are an outstanding group of young men and women who not only represent our school within the community doing volunteer work, but also present Colors at each home football game for all four high schools in the district. Our cadets have competed at the national level for the last 3 years and place in the top 3 units in physical fitness on a consistent basis, with the girls' PT team dominating first place the last few years.
Various athletic teams often qualify for first and second round play-off seats.
There are nearly 3,000 students currently enrolled at Alvin High School, with 59% Hispanic, 35% White, 3% African-American, 2% Asian and 2% Multiracial making up the population. Approximately58% of our students qualify for free meals and 7% for reduced meals. The average SAT score in all subjects is a 1448 while the average ACT composite score is a 21. The average percent of students who enroll in a higher education after high school is 56%.
The community surrounding Alvin High School is one of the reasons that makes Alvin so unique. Many of our teachers are former alumni and take pride in preparing our Yellowjackets for success! #JacketPrideNeverDies #JPND
