Campus History
School Colors
Orange and White
AHS school colors are based on the Satsuma orange and the White Cape Jasmine Gardenia which were grown in the Alvin area. Alvin was known as the "Cape Jasmine Capital of the World".
Emblem
Yellowjacket
Around 1925-1927 the high school selected a mascot emblem. Clarence Coffey, suggested the Yellowjacket, as it is small but carries a potent weapon and has an aggressive spirit. The student body voted to adopt the Yellowjacket as their mascot.
Alma Mater
When the Alma Mater plays, everyone should stand and link pinky fingers.
Hail Alma mater,
Hats off to you!
Ever you’ll find us,
Loyal and true.
Firm and undaunted,
Always we’ll be.
Hail to the school we love.
Here’s a toast to thee!
