Career and Technical Education

It is the goal of the AISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) department to create classroom environments for students composed of rigorous, industry-approved curricula that provide students with a safe, economical opportunity to experience real-world application of core content, guiding students to explore options available to them for college and career paths.

The CTE program accentuates state and national standards by enabling students to gain entry-level employment in high-skill, high-wage jobs and/or continuing their education. Alvin ISD CTE Programs are committed to attracting, developing, and preparing students for diverse careers that reflect current and future industry trends.

CTE courses are offered at EACH secondary school in our district, in addition to our state-of-the-art career center.

Alvin ISD offers more than 100 courses, in 30 different Programs of Study, within 14 career clusters. More than 75% of Alvin ISD high school students are enrolled in at least one CTE course.

The JB Hensler College and Career Academy is a centrally located campus that houses upper level CTE classes that students across the district are eligible to take as a part of their Program of Study.  Students attend their "home" campus for initial CTE courses, then take upper level (typically junior and senior level) classes at JBH. Bus transportation is provided to and from JBH from each high school each day.

The Vision of CTE

To provide AISD students with CTE industry recognized opportunities, experiences, and skills preparing them for success in industry and/or postsecondary education.

CTE Mission

-Cultivate potential in CTE students by creating classroom experiences that integrate rigorous classroom instruction with relevant, work-based experiences that inspire, guide and empower them for post-secondary college, careers and military.

-Create productive citizens in a globally competitive workforce.

-Provide responsive programming which anticipates industry and community needs.

-Operate under continuous cycle of improvement.
