About Me!

I am so happy and excited to be the new counselor here at Savannah Lakes Elementary. This is my eleventh year as an educator. I started my journey in education in Pasadena ISD as a special education teacher. After five years I came to Alvin ISD and have been a Savannah Sun ever since! I received my Bachelors of Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2008 and my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University in 2017. I have been a team leader, ESY coordinator, new teacher mentor, and an Alvin ISD Believes award recipient.

I have been with my wonderful husband Derrick for 17 years. We have two wonderful children. Our oldest, Ashlyn, is a freshman at Iowa Colony this year. Our youngest, Hayden, will be in the 5th grade at Savannah Lakes. During my off time I love to read and relax.

WHEN IS IT BULLYING AND WHEN IS IT NOT

Bully

It is important to distinguish bullying from other unkind, mean and harmful behavior.  To be defined as bullying, all three components must be present: (1) repeated actions or threats, (2) a power imbalance and (3) intention to cause harm.
