What is

What is Hoka Hey

Hoka Hey is our motto at MHS.  Although it originated as an athletic motto, it has spread to all parts of the school community.

Hoka Hey was Crazy Horse's battle cry at Little Big Horn when his Sioux Lakota Indian tribe defeated General Custer. To the Indians, it meant this is a great day to die. They were ready to die for their family to preserve their way of life. At MHS, we do not translate that meaning literally.  We do however want to die to our own selfish desires and play for the team, the school, and our community. We want to play unselfish!
