Our Mission Statement

The mission of Communities In Schools (CIS) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to succeed in school and achieve in life.

Who is CIS?

  • 501(c)3 non-profit

  • Administered by Texas Education Agency (TEA)

  • Serving Brazoria and Southeast Harris Counties

  • 122 programs located in 14 school districts on 100 campuses

  • 12,000 students served 2019-2020

What we do:

  • Partner with educators, students, and parents to determine needed services

Services Offered

  • Academic Support - homework help, grade monitoring, tutorial reminders, teacher consultations, organizational skills assistance

  • College and Career Awareness - exposure, preparation, college campus visits, college/career fairs

  • Parent & Family Involvement - school-wide events, parent consultations and volunteers

  • Health and Human Services - school supplies, food & clothing assistance, emergency family assistance, Christmas assistance, agency referrals

  • Enrichment Activities - community service, games, team sports, field trips

  • Supportive Guidance - social-emotional learning activities, character building, leadership development, 1 on 1 mentoring

Program Enrollment

  • Students must be enrolled in the CIS program to receive CIS services.

  • A signed Parent Consent Form is needed to enroll each student.

  • New enrollment is required for each school year.

  • CIS services are offered at NO COST to enrolled students.
