More than 50 colleges and universities were set up Tuesday at JB Hensler College and Career Academy as over 450 students and parents attended the Annual Alvin ISD College Fair.

The free fair was intended for junior high and high school students and their parents or guardians.

In addition to the colleges and universities, representatives of the branches of the United States military also were in attendance. Additionally, the event offered financial aid and scholarship information.

Amber Dixon, Alvin ISD’s District Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling, said college fairs, such as the one held Tuesday, allow schools to connect with prospective students face-to-face.

“A lot of times students are just searching online. They don’t really get the opportunities to ask questions,” she said. “The College Fair is good way to connect with representatives and ask any questions they may have.”

Alvin ISD has been hosting the College Fair for over 25 years. The event continues to be one of the most impactful opportunities for students to connect with colleges across Texas and the United States for the first time.
