It’s been a busy couple of days in Alvin ISD!

Alvin ISD kicked off the 2022-23 school year with a transition day for Pre-K, Kinder, 6th, and 9th grade students on August 17 and all other students returned on August 18.

Alvin ISD Superintendent Carol Nelson visited several campuses throughout the district on Wednesday and Thursday to welcome students back on the first day of the 2022-23 school year.

Throughout the day, Nelson made her way to campuses welcoming students and families and encouraging administrators and teachers with warm wishes. As students got settled into their new classrooms the sounds of learning and laughter filled the halls.

“It was a great couple of days for Alvin ISD,” Nelson said. “I can already tell that this is going to be a great school year.”

At Iowa Colony High School, Alvin ISD’s newest addition, the day was kicked off with a pep rally for the students to encourage school spirit.

“It is really important to the staff here at Iowa Colony High School that we start the year off right and create a culture of excellence that inspires learning, empathy, and passion in our Pioneer family,” shared Ashley Marquez, principal of Iowa Colony High School. “I can’t wait to see what kind of culture and traditions these 9th and 10th grade Pioneers start.
