The Alvin ISD Business Office is known for its commitment to excellence and fiscal responsibility. Led by Chief Financial Officer Daniel Combs, the office was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to Alvin ISD for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2021. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

“We are honored to receive this award from GOFA for the ninth consecutive year, as we strive to utilize every dollar entrusted to us by the community and provide transparency through the process,” said Cheryl Ryan, Senior Director of Finance for Alvin ISD.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
