During the May, 2022 Board Meeting, newly elected board members Regan Metoyer-Peterson and David Selsky were sworn in by the Honorable Judge Mike Merkel.
Metoyer-Peterson and Selsky ran unopposed in the May election and took the place of long-time Board Members Tiffany Wennerstrom and Nicole Tonini.
An emotional special recognition was held when Wennerstrom, having served 12 years on the Board and Tonini, nine years served, gave a few words on what serving on the Board meant to them.
“I am proud of the work we have done. We have passed bonds, built schools, significantly increased CTE offerings, and so much more. We were able to accomplish these things because our Board and administration work as a team for what is best for Alvin ISD,” Wennerstrom shared.
Following the administration of the Oath of Office, Board Members elected officers for the 2022-23 school year. Earl Humbird was elected President, Vivian Scheibel was elected Vice President, and AJ Johnson was elected Secretary.
Metoyer-Peterson rejoins the Board after a year-long break. She currently serves as a Program Coordinator in the MBA Programs Office at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University and her children have been with the district from the beginning of their educational career.
David Selsky has been a very engaged resident and served on several committees for Alvin ISD. He and his family have lived in Alvin ISD since 2006 and his two high school teens have been with the district from kindergarten.
