The hard work of a school district employee can oftentimes go unrecognized, but on the evening of May 12, Alvin ISD educators and staff were recognized for their dedication and commitment to every student, every day.

For the first time in two years, the Alvin ISD Employee Recognition Ceremony was held in person and honored campus teachers, rookie teachers, and paraprofessionals of the year from every campus. Those who were selected from their campus were individually recognized during the celebration. Then, an elementary and a secondary district teacher, rookie teacher, and paraprofessional of the year were selected to represent the district.

Kelly Hudson of Nolan Ryan Junior High School was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year. She is the Reading/Language Arts Instructional Coach and just completed her 16th year of teaching

On the elementary level, Courtney Breitenbach of Shirley Brothers Elementary was selected as the Elementary Teacher of the Year. She just rounded out her 11th year teaching and is currently a 4th grade GT self-contained teacher.

Zoey Henderson from Harby Junior High School received secondary Rookie Teacher of the Year honors and Macey Nichols from Mark Twain Elementary received elementary Rookie Teacher of the Year honors.

Nicole Hudson-Thomas of Shadow Creek High School was chosen as the Secondary Paraprofessional of the Year. On the elementary level, Amanda Roberts of Marek Elementary was honored as the Elementary Paraprofessional of the Year.

In addition to the employees of the year, department employees of the year, retirees, service awards recipients, principals of the year and Education Foundation grant and scholarships winners were recognized.

The festivities of the “Leave your Legacy” themed staff appreciation night closed out the 2021-2022 school year, and honored every individual who served the district and the kids in it. Their effort to Alvin ISD students lays the foundation of learning and inspires the young minds of tomorrow.
