On March 16 and 19, Alvin High School, Shadow Creek High School, and Manvel High School competed at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Championship in Corpus Christi, TX.
It was an exciting day for the Alvin HS Yellowjackets as the team finished 4th place overall and Alvin HS junior Eliana Hernandez was named State Champion in the 259 weight class! Isabela Recendez finished 2nd place in the 132 class, while Hannah Casas placed 4th in the 123 class. Other Yellowjackets also had strong showings. Maya Ruiz placed 5th in the 259+ class, Denisse Limon placed 5th in the 132 class, Lexi Rodriguez placed 7th in the 114 class, and Kaylyn Tucker placed 8th in the 97 class.
In addition, Shadow Creek HS's Torri Crawford finished 5th in the 259 class and Manvel HS’s Cyara Eason placed 4th in the 165 class.
