Fair photos

This week, more than 75 science projects were displayed during the Alvin ISD STEM Fair. The fair, held at the Heritage Complex, was comprised of junior high and high school students. Physics, math, engineering, biological sciences, botany and environmental science, and chemistry were the six categories being judged. Students explained their projects to the 14 judges. Most of these projects took 4-5 months to put together.

Congratulations to the following winners: Biological Sciences: Vihaan Das – McNair Jr. High – “Which Mask is Best?” Chemistry: Gabriele Prada-Lopes – Manvel Jr. High – “pH vs. Conductivity” Engineering: Christian Doan – McNair Jr. High – “Magnetic Rail Cannon” Environmental Science/Botany – Daniel Portillo – McNair Jr. High – “Atmospheric Water Generator” Math and Computer Science – Tanya Mahesh – Shadow Creek HS – “Detecting Dirty Driveways using Image Analysis and AI Models” Physics – Carter Crisman – McNair Jr. High – “Which glue is the strongest?” 

 In addition, three students received a $300 scholarship from Alvin Community College. These students include Vihaan Das, McNair Jr. High, Gabriela Prada – Lopes, Manvel Jr. High, Tanya Mahesh, Shadow Creek HS.
