Alvin ISD has named their 2022 Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year.

Pomona Elementary Principal Victoria Kwan has been named Alvin ISD’s 2022 Elementary Principal of the Year and Harby Jr. High Principal Elizabeth Lawson was named Secondary Principal of the Year.

Both amazing principals show us what it means to be a student-focused, results-driven leader with high expectations for every student and staff member who supports their success.

“Mrs. Kwan is a strong instructional leader on her campus and it shows in everything she does,” shared Alvin ISD Superintendent Carol Nelson. “Mrs. Kwan is always striving to learn more and become an even better principal. She is truly deserving of this honor.”

“I am very honored to receive this very prestigious recognition. I am proud that I get to serve in this role alongside my fellow educator colleagues and peers to create a future for our students in Alvin ISD,” shared Kwan. “This recognition encourages me to work harder and strive for excellence to continue to promote a top notch learner-centered environment and build a culture of learning and positive relationships, so that we make a difference in the lives of OUR students.”

Ms. Lawson has done an amazing job with the transition of Harby Jr. High.

“Ms. Lawson is a committed, caring leader who relentlessly pursues excellence for her students and staff,” said Alvin ISD Superintendent Carol Nelson. “She is an engaging, hardworking leader who continuously inspires her staff to implement and improve the performance of their students. We are so proud of Ms. Lawson and grateful that she is a leader in our Alvin Family.”

“As a principal, we get this short season in life to impact future generations, staff, peers, and the greater Alvin ISD community. It is humbling to be recognized for making an impact on these stakeholders through service and to be held in such high esteem by my peers,” shared Lawson.

Please join Alvin ISD in congratulating Victoria Kwan and Elizabeth Lawson as our 2022 Principals of the Year!
