Shadow Creek High School Assistant Principal Dr. Toriano Taylor was recently inducted into the Northwestern State University (La.) Hall of Fame. The class of 2000 alum was honored for his remarkable work on the football field where he became an all-time leading rusher for NSU.

“This honor is a major accomplishment for me, my family, and all the mentors, coaches, and former teachers who helped me become the man I am today,” Dr. Taylor shared. “It is hard for me to put into words how much of a dream this has been. Knowing I’m being recognized and mentioned in the same breath as the best players from not only NSU, but the NFL is an incredible honor.” Dr. Taylor spoke about how thankful he was for the opportunity to be recognized knowing star athletes such as Joe Delaney and John Stephens who went through the NSU program both went on to become NFL Rookies of the Year. “Having the honor of being a part of the N-Club Hall of Fame and having the privilege of playing with these incredible athletes, who in-turn made me look good at my job, is something I will forever be thankful for.”

One of his memorable moments playing for NSU was his first big opportunity on the field. The starting running-back was injured and without hesitation, Dr. Taylor jumped up and ran into the game. With coaches yelling from the sidelines, he pushed forward and made one of the most important plays which opened the door for more opportunities on the field.

Congratulations to Dr. Taylor for this distinguished honor!
