A reunion for past and present staff members of E.C. Mason Elementary School was held on September 2, 2021, to commemorate the end of an era in the former E.C. Mason building.
Over 90 staff members gathered to reunite and took a walk down memory lane. Some of the original staff members were there to share their stories and reminisce about old times.
“It was a great place to start my career in education.” stated Elizabeth Sassin, a former teacher at E.C. Mason. “I was surrounded by wonderful, experienced staff members and students who had a love for learning.”
According to those in attendance, the friendships formed at E.C. Mason had a lasting impression on the staff and students who walked through the doors of that building.
E.C. Mason Elementary was the first school in Texas to become a Capturing Kids Hearts Showcase School. With a focus on relationship building, Capturing Kids Hearts is a program Alvin ISD uses to teach students and staff how to treat one another.
“You always got a special feeling when you walked into the school,” shared Renae Rives, former Principal of E.C. Mason Elementary (2015-17). “Students and staff would welcome you with a cheer, smile, or handshake.”
In order to commemorate the special people who made up E.C. Mason throughout the years, the Alvin ISD Communications Department took a photo in the old building to celebrate the relationships, love and community once housed there.
Following the gathering at the old building, the group moved to the new E.C. Mason Elementary School which is located across the street. A tour of the building revealed all the new areas being utilized to enhance student learning.
The new building features current and former logos on the wall to reflect the continuation of the longstanding legacy E.C. Mason had on the lives of so many in the Manvel community. In order to celebrate this new chapter, Alvin ISD will be hosting the E.C. Mason Dedication on September 21, 2021 at 5:30 pm at the new E.C. Mason Elementary located at 7220 School Road, Manvel, TX
