After Hurricane Harvey, the Duke Elementary art and music teachers started a fundraising campaign to buy gift cards for families so they could purchase dinners and groceries. After the recent devastation of Hurricane Ida, they felt compelled to do the same for our neighbors in Louisiana.
Duke Elementary families and staff members got involved by participating in spirit days! This week, spirit days were "sold" for two dollars each. They have raised over $2,900 to support SBP, a Louisiana-based charity who has been helping families recover from disasters since 2007.
“With our spirit events this week, we wanted to show Duke Bulldogs care and can make a difference in the world through action! We want to aid those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Ida,” shared Duke art teacher Melinda LeBoeuf and music teacher Meredith Mooney.
