Wonderful memories, delightful stories, and a few happy tears filled Jackie Doucet Caffey Jr. High on August 29, 2021 as Alvin ISD held a special dedication ceremony to honor Ms. Caffey.
“I am blessed to have worked alongside Ms. Caffey for many years as an educator and an administrator,” Superintendent Carol Nelson shared. “She made such an impact on my professional career and my personal life as my children were taught by her many years ago.”
Caffey attended Alvin ISD schools prior to making her way to Alvin Community College where she received her Associates Degree. She went on to get a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Her teaching career began at Alvin Jr. High then Harby Jr. High. She was moved to a secondary specialist position where she served multiple campuses and teachers, and finally worked her way to the Executive Director of Advanced Academics. During her 42 years in the district, she was instrumental in starting the WINGS Academy for Highly Gifted elementary students, the STEM Program at Manvel Jr. High and the MAP Program.
“Ms. Caffey was an educator for all students,” Principal of Caffey Jr. High Dr. Tina McCorkle shared. “I am honored to lead this campus and will strive to make it a successful learning environment for every student.”
Alvin ISD’s eighth junior high is set to accommodate more than 1,000 students within the 177,000 square foot facility and is located in the Meridiana subdivision of Iowa Colony.
