To honor our wonderful employees, Alvin ISD hosted a virtual Employee Recognition Ceremony. While the 2020-21 school year held many challenges, it also provided opportunities for our educators to prove their resilience.

“We chose to recognize our amazing teachers, staff members, and retirees, virtually so all could participate in the excitement. The district wanted to honor them for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year,” shared Carol Nelson, Alvin ISD Superintendent. “Earlier this week, we got the opportunity to go around the district and surprise the winners with the news. It was great to see their reactions live!”

On the evening of Thursday, May 13, the community was able to tune into the Alvin ISD Facebook or YouTube page to watch our employees receive the recognition they deserve.

The campus teachers, rookie teachers, and paraprofessionals of the year who were selected from their campus were recognized, before a candidate from each category was selected to represent the district.

Jessica Jackson was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year. She teaches seventh grade history and is the site coordinator and teacher for the AVID program at Rodeo Palms Jr High.

On the elementary level, Patricia Delgado from Don Jeter Elementary was selected as the Elementary Teacher of the Year. She is a third-grade bilingual teacher and team lead at Don Jeter Elementary.

The district also honored Rookie Teachers of the Year. Vanessa Trejo from EC Mason Elementary received the Elementary Rookie Teacher of the Year honor and Shiny George from JB Hensler received Secondary Rookie Teacher of the Year honors.

Linda Fusig of Alvin Jr High was chosen as the Secondary Paraprofessional of the Year. On the elementary level, Esther Jimenez of Passmore Elementary was honored as the Elementary Paraprofessional of the Year.

In addition to the employees of the year, department employees of the year, retirees, service awards recipients, principals of the year and Education Foundation grant and scholarships winners were recognized.
