This year, teachers around the world have gone above and beyond to make sure that children continue to have quality education in the mist of the COVID pandemic. During these unprecedented times, Alvin ISD teachers have had to learn new ways to teach, new ways to plan lessons, new technology, and new ways to keep their students engaged, and to do so, they have had to give so much out of their personal and family time.

Alvin ISD is very appreciative of anyone who recognizes the work that our teachers do. When T-Mobile approached our office of Family and Community Engagement to ask if they could collaborate with some of our schools to give the gift of time to our teachers, we knew our teachers would appreciate this offer. Creatively, T-Mobile came up with the idea of setting up gift wrapping stations at four of our schools so that teachers could have everything they needed to wrap their Christmas presents, including help wrapping them. Even more, T-Mobile brought snacks and food trucks to feed the teachers of Passmore Elementary, Bill Hasse Elementary, Bel Sanchez Elementary, and Red Duke Elementary.

“We have always, and will continue, to put our money where our mouth is when it comes to showing appreciation for those who teach and support every generation along the way.  With Alvin ISD, we wanted to do something different, but our goal this week was to relieve some stress off the staff’s shoulders in what we know has been a stressful school year.  We figured helping wrap some gifts and bringing lunch was the least we could do considering everything they do,” said Spencer Leeder, with T-Mobile Outreach & Events in Houston Southwest.

“Thank you so much! My staff appreciated this more than you know. We were so excited to have the help wrapping presents for all of the kids we are providing presents for these holidays,” said Natalie Hoskins, Principal at Passmore Elementary.

We are looking forward to future partnerships between Alvin ISD and T-Mobile, especially during these hard times for everyone.
