Reyansh Lal may not be on the New York Times Bestseller List, but he is a published author.
Not bad for a fifth-grader at Shirley Brothers Elementary School in Alvin ISD.
Reyansh’s book, “The Lost Book,” is the 10-year-old’s entry into the literary world.
The 15-page book, which is available for purchase through Amazon, is about three friends on an adventurous journey to find one of the greatest treasures in the world.
“The best part was writing the first draft because I enjoy writing what I have planned and expanding my thought into words,” Reyansh said.
Reyansh, who took some of his inspiration from fiction and fictional fantasy books he likes to read, said he decided he was inspired to write this book by a writing assignment he got from his 4th grade ELA teacher, Ms. Burroughs. “I dedicated my book to Ms. Burroughs because without her support, I wouldn’t have been able to write it.”
Reyansh said this was his first book, and it took him about seven days to write.
He has already started his second book, the sequel to “The Lost Book.”
In the almost two weeks since the book has been out, Reyansh has sold over 100 paperback and Kindle versions of his book. He is donating all of his royalties towards shark rescue and his parents plan to match his donation.
