Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, some Shadow Creek High School students came together to help support their community. Nikil Vijayan, Viren Govin, Ahmed Alcassab, and Savindu Wimalasooriya saw the need for an efficient food delivery service after seeing their local grocery stores become flooded with curbside pick up orders. Teens4Help was formed and the group began working quickly to form a website and ordering form so they could begin their deliveries as soon as possible.
“Our main mission is to provide the grocery delivery service to those who have low mobility or are at high risk for Coronavirus,” founder and operational manager of Teens4Help, Nikil Vijayan shared. “To date we have conducted ten deliveries, three per week, to community members who need it the most.”
All four of the students are involved in various organizations at Shadow Creek High School including Student Council, National Honor Society, Model UN, and the Interact Club. All of these organizations are built on connecting with others which is, unfortunately, not possible during the crisis. Teens4Help allows them to still work together and give back to the community while following all guidelines in place.
