Alvin ISD is being honored as a Statewide Semi-Finalist in the 2020 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

As a Semi-Finalist, the district receives recognition and $1,000 in H-E-B gift cards.

The awards program recognizes Texas educators and school districts for their commitment to student achievement through innovative programs, parent and community involvement, and teacher professional development.

H-E-B launched the Excellence in Education Awards Program in cooperation with the Texas Association of School Administrators in 2002 as a positive way to support public education in Texas by spotlighting best practices.

Alvin ISD was in the running for the title of Large District Winner, finishing as a Semi-Finalist and was among 20 districts out of 1,500 applications named as Semi-Finalists.

"We want to thank HEB for the acknowledgment of our district's efforts," said Carol Nelson, Alvin ISD Superintendent. "We are grateful that the hard work of our students, teachers and administrators is being applauded."
