A senior at Shadow Creek High School has a story to tell after her recently discovered talent landed her the project of a lifetime with an NFL wide receiver. Teresa Sandoval began painting less than a year ago when she decided to make a custom pair of jeans for Homecoming. “Everyone paints overalls or pants to show school spirit, but mine ended up going viral on Twitter,” Teresa shared. Her tweet had over 120,000 likes and several thousand retweets! After the post went viral, she began receiving hundreds of direct messages for new projects and landed the ultimate job with Packers’ wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The professional football player contacted her through Twitter to create a pair of custom cleats to honor the NFL’s campaign, My Cause My Cleats.

The campaign allows players to create custom cleats to showcase a charitable cause important to them. Teresa spent close to two weeks designing and painting the cleats to spread awareness on mental health from the vision Marquez saw fit for the cleats. After viewing her previous work, he wanted her to have full creative control and simply presented her with the theme. The cleats, sporting brightly painted designs, have the words, “It’s okay not to be okay,” written across the outside and made their official debut on the field December 8, 2019 during the Packers vs. Redskins game.

From skateboards, shoes, jeans, and more, Teresa’s talent has become a true passion. You can catch her on campus playing soccer for Shadow Creek HS this season or designing her next project. She continues to run a small side business through her Twitter, and we’re excited to see where this path takes her next!
