Alvin Independent School District is proud to announce the 21 students who were recognized as 2020 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art district-level winners.  Each of these students is now under consideration for the HLSR School Art Auction, category winners, and a variety of other awards and scholarships. 

The winners are as follows: 

Jessica Liu, Shadow Creek High School, Brenda Solarzano, Manvel High School, Grace Govella, Alvin High School, Sarah Gautreau, Alvin High School, Jazmin Garcia, Shadow Creek High School, Christian Aguirre, Alvin High School, Heidi Flores, Shadow Creek High School, Isabel Westly, Nolan Ryan Jr. High, Fiorella Aguero Felice, McNair Jr. High, Bianca Roberts, Nelson Elementary, Kamryn McClellan, Pomona Elementary, Kennedy Simon, Shadow Creek High School, Bailey Gilcrease, Alvin High School, Emily Anderson, Alvin High School, Kate-Lyn Ramsey, Alvin High School, Madeline Geiman, Alvin High School, Elise Henderson, Shadow Creek High School, Althea Nigos, Shadow Creek High School, Aliyah Roberson, Alvin High School, Charley Cross, Manvel High School, and Brionna Boyd, Manvel High School.

These students were honored at the district contest in the categories of Best of Show, Gold Medal, and Special Merit award winners. Their work will be on display in the Hayloft Gallery on the first floor of NRG Center during the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo from March 3 through March 22. 

On Friday, January 17, the Alvin ISD Fine Arts Department welcomed 1,900 community members to the Alvin ISD Liberty Alumni Hall for the Rodeo Art Open House. Visitors were able to see all 650 pieces of rodeo art, listen to a live band, and enjoy a barbeque meal. The Rodeo Art Open House continues to be one of the Districts largest events.
