Fairview Junior High School counselor Janette Milmoe is known for going above and beyond for her students. She has been recognized by Ashley HomeStore with a Red Apple Award, a $250 cash prize and a $2,500 check in her name to refurnish the school’s teacher lounge.

“I’m so honored to receive this award,” said Milmoe while wiping away tears during the award presentation on KHOU-TV’s Great Day Houston.

Former Fairview Junior High School teacher Shannon Rose, nominated Mrs. Milmoe.

“Mrs. Milmoe deserves the Red Apple Award because she is the most inspirational, encouraging, and outstanding teacher, mentor, and friend,” Rose said. “Janette goes above and beyond daily to ensure her students receive the best educational experience for their own personal success.”

Carol Nelson, Alvin ISD Superintendent, who attended the presentation along with a roomful of friends, family members, students and faculty members, agrees.

“Mrs. Milmoe truly models Alvin ISD’s core beliefs. She is a true servant leader and goes above and beyond for each of her students.”

As part of the Red Apple Award recognition, Ashley HomeStore will collaborate with school administrators to redesign and refurnish the school’s teachers lounge.

“At Ashley HomeStore, we have a core value that life moments matter and clearly Mrs. Milmoe changes all the lives that she touches,” said Brittany Graham, community specialist with Ashley HomeStore. “We want to showcase changers in the world and Mrs. Milmoe is definitely one of them.”
