Life is about to change for 30 Alvin ISD high school seniors, who have officially secured job offers through the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council’s (BCPC) Career Signing Day program. These students, representing Alvin, Shadow Creek, Manvel, and Iowa Colony High Schools, were honored during a signing ceremony held April 22 at the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College.
The event celebrated 100 seniors from 18 high schools across Brazoria and Matagorda Counties. Each student earned their position through a highly competitive process that included detailed applications, up to four interviews with leading contractor companies, and a comprehensive review of academic and personal achievements. Those selected are now preparing to step directly into high-demand, high-paying roles in the petrochemical industry.
BCPC’s Career Signing Day provides a direct path into skilled trades such as welding, pipefitting, and construction. Participants begin paid, on-the-job training immediately after graduation, often earning industry-recognized certifications along the way.
“This program is a game-changer for our students,” said Brandy Johanson, Executive Director of Career and Technical Education for Alvin ISD. “It’s not just about landing a job—it’s about starting a career with purpose, with momentum, and with the support of an industry that values their potential. We are incredibly proud of these students and all they’ve achieved.”
Alvin ISD continues to see the transformative impact of the program on student confidence, life-readiness, and long-term economic mobility. Since its inception, BCPC Career Signing Day has launched more than 300 students directly into full-time careers, making it a shining example of how collaboration between education and industry can change lives.
