Representatives from local Audi and Volkswagen dealerships gathered with students and administrators on Tuesday for the official presentation of 10 vehicles that were donated to the JB Hensler Collision Repair program over the summer.
Students have been working with the vehicles already and are making huge strides in understanding the technology that comes with the state-of-the-art equipment, said Scott Pollard, the program's instructor.
"I've been in education for 30 years, and I can say this is by far the biggest thing that's ever happened to us, the best that could have happened to a program like ours," Pollard said.
The program received the donated Audi and Volkswagen vehicles thanks to the Collision Repair Education Foundation, Audi of America, and Volkswagen of America right at the start of the school year. The 10 are part of just 78 vehicles that were donated to programs nationwide. JB Hensler was the only school in Texas to receive a part of this massive donation.
After the initial presentation, the group was taken on a tour of the classroom shop space. Students stood at different stations to describe the different techniques they're learning in class, including inspecting the vehicles, how to fix superficial dents and how to repair bigger issues on the cars.
We'd like to once again thank the Collision Repair Education Foundation , Audi USA , and Volkswagen of America for their generous donation that will impact students for years to come. Partnerships like these help provide a path to success for our students and put them on a fast track to their futures #AllinAlvinISD.
