AHS students at Hasse Elementary

Since elementary students spend a lot of time cheering on their high school sports and groups, it was time to return the favor.

Alvin High School fall activities, including the cheer, volleyball and football teams spent the mornings greeting the littlest yellowjacket fans as they helped in the car rider lines opening doors and helping everyone get to class during the last few weeks!

Head Football Coach James Gage said working the morning car rider line adds a little fun for everyone.

"I think everyone from the parents dropping off, to the elementary kids, and the high school students love it," he said. "My goal is for the elementary students to get out of their cars with a smile on their faces and hopefully help them have a great day. For the high schoolers, it's good to get them out of their comfort zone and see them interact with everyone."

Volleyball Coach Amanda Tacquard said her girls have been loving going back to their own elementary schools and have also gained an appreciation for the work that goes into everything running smoothly every morning!

After seeing how much everyone has enjoyed it, Gage already has plans to continue this new tradition next semester with the winter and spring sports.
