Pre-Kindergarten Round Up

Pre-Kindergarten Enrollment Requirements

  • Live within the Alvin ISD boundary

  • Be four (4) years of age on or before September 1st and,

  • Students must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria below to qualify for the Prekindergarten program:

    • Limited English Proficient: Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language. (Eligibility is based on results of Language Testing)

    • Educationally Disadvantaged: Eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), including students who receive any of the following benefits:

      • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, (SNAP) 

      • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

      • Students can also qualify by bringing two current paystubs for each working parent.

    • Homeless: Children who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence and/or who are sharing housing with others due to the loss of housing, economic hardship or a similar reason may qualify. Student Residency and Assistance Questionnaire (SRQ) required.

    • Military Families: The child of a parent who is an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority or the child of a parent of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty.

    • Foster Care or Previously in Foster Care: Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Placement Authorization Form 2085,  Court Order, or DFPS  Letter of Verification  required.

    • Star of Texas Award: The child’s parent/guardian has received the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, firefighter, or an emergency medical first responder. 

Registration is June 3 - 13, 2024

Registration is at the Lewis Lane Center and is a 2-step process

Skyward will open for Pre-Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year on May 20th.

At that time, you may complete the online application to register for next school year and schedule an appointment to complete the enrollment process at the Alvin ISD Enrollment Center.

Parents or guardians of students new to the district should present the following items for their child at the time of registration:

  1. Birth Certificate [Request Documentation Online]

  2. Social Security Card(Social Security Number is recommended but not required. A student who does not provide or have a social security number will be assigned a state identification number.)

  3. Immunization Record

  4. Two proofs of residency in the Alvin Independent School District: 

    • A mortgage, lease or property tax statement of the parent/guardian seeking to enroll a child and a copy of a current electric bill, water utility or gas bill for the address identified (Cell phone bill not accepted). 

  5. Last report card or withdrawal form from previous school district 

  6. Parent/Guardian I.D. (driver's license, passport, military I.D.)   

Records normally required of all students in order to enroll may not be required for students who are unaccompanied, homeless, or in foster care in order to enroll. Click here for more information or contact our District Homeless Liaison, Jocunda Husband at 281-284-3623.

Our Pre-Kindergarten program offers a full day program and is offered at the following campuses:

Pre-K students who are zoned to one of the following elementary schools will attend the indicated campus for the 24-25 school year.

Kindergarten registration will be April 29 - May 3, 2024 at your zoned campus. Call the campus to schedule an appointment. Kindergarten registration will also be held June 3 - 13, 2024 at the Lewis Lane Center. Check the Alvin ISD website for more information.
