The Alvin ISD Athletic Dept. is providing online ticketing to purchase tickets for all of the Alvin ISD athletic events at the high school and junior high level.  Each junior high school is listed under their feeder pattern high school link.  Online tickets for varsity football games may be purchased at pre-sale prices until midnight the day before the game.  Ticket sales will resume at 4:00 p.m. the day of the game.  A QR Code will be available at all ticket gates to purchase tickets at the door.

Bi-District Volleyball Playoffs

Congrats to the Shadow Creek HS Volleyball team for making the Playoffs! The Sharks will face FB Clements HS in the Bi-District round of the Playoffs! The game will be played on Tuesday, 11/5/24 at FB Crawford HS (801 Caldwell Ranch Blvd. Rosharon, 77583). 6A Girls Cross Country

Congrats to Manvel HS's Danna Ramirez and Jannie Cardenas for qualifying for the 6A State Championship Cross Country meet in Round Rock! The meet will be held on Friday, 11/1/24 at 10:45 a.m. at the Old Settlers Park (3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. Round Rock, 78665). Danna is a Junior student-athlete and Jannie is a Sophomore student-athlete! Both runners are entering the State meet with a 19:18 qualifying time in the 5000m race! Please make plans to travel to Round Rock to support Danna and Jannie as they represent Manvel HS/Alvin ISD and compete for the State Championship!

Lady Yellowjackets close volleyball season with win – The Alvin Lady Yellowjackets captured a 25-18, 21-25, 25-21 and 25-13 four-set victory over Pasadena Memorial to close their season, Tuesday at the AHS Competition Gym. Alvin closes its season at 10-28 overall and 5-11 in 22-6A. Brooklyn Morris delivered a double double performance with 12 kills and 22 digs, while other match totals included Payton Ashley with 13 kills and three blocks, Karlie Dorsten with seven kills, Jatara Roland with 16 assists, Reece Shotwell with 15 assists, Camryn Mercer with 13 digs, Morgan Gassaway with nine assists and Joana Cach with three blocks.

Yellowjackets’ Football gives Dawson all it can handle in defeat – The Alvin Yellowjackets dropped a 58-35 decision to Dawson at the Rig in Pearland on Oct. 25 in 22-6A Football action. Samuel Fernandez sparked a 281-yard rushing attack by Alvin with 139 yards on 27 carries and four touchdowns. Quarterback Drew Bingham added 79 rushing yards on 14 carries and one TD. Jaylen Peterson delivered seven tackles on defense and Chris Macias recovered a Dawson fumble. The Jackets next host Dobie, Friday at AISD Memorial Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff

Manvel Maverick Report

Lady Mavericks’ Volleyball tunes up playoffs – The Manvel Lady Mavericks tuned up for the upcoming Class 6A Volleyball playoffs with a 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16 straight set sweep over Dobie, Tuesday at the MHS Competition Gym. Carrying an overall record of 27-13 into the postseason, the Lady Mavs enter as the playoffs as 22-6A’s second seed in Division 2 and will meet Fort Bend Austin, Nov. 5 at Iowa Colony High School at 5:30 p.m. Match totals against Dobie included Kaycee Pennie with eight kills, London King and Jasmyn Walker with seven kills apiece, Kamille Jackson with six kills and three blocks, Kenedy Massie with 31 assists and eight digs and Emerson Chang and Sami Guikema with 10 digs apiece.

Shadow Creek Volleyball meets Clements in bi-district playoffs – The Shadow Creek Lady Sharks open the Class 6A Volleyball playoffs by meeting Clements, Nov. 5 in the bi-district round at Almeta Crawford High School in Rosharon at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Sharks take a 32-10 overall record into the match and are 22-6A’s top seed in Division 2. The Lady Sharks tuned up for the bi-district match by defeating Sam Rayburn in straight sets by 25-17, 25-7 and 25-15 in their regular season finale on Tuesday night. Match totals included Aspen Brown with 13 kills, Mackenzie Collins with eight kills and seven digs, Bella Law with 38 assists, four aces and seven digs, Tamarria Mitchell with 10 kills and Lauryn Wiley with 12 digs.

Sharks take sole possession of first place in 22-6A Football Race – The Shadow Creek Sharks took sole possession of first place in the 22-6A Football race by topping Pearland 41-28, Oct. 25 at AISD Freedom Field in Iowa Colony. Shadow Creek moved its record to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in district with the victory. Dante Mayes completed 11 of 14 passes for 114 yards and two TD’s, while the Sharks’ defense held Pearland to only a pair of first half first downs in taking a 20-6 lead to the locker room. Tristin Willis also broke loose for touchdown runs of 64 and 12 yards and Carter Stewart blocked an Oilers’ punt to set up another SC touchdown. The Sharks next play South Houston, Oct. 31 at Pasadena’s Veteran Stadium at 6:30 p.m.

Iowa Colony Pioneer Report

Pioneers rally for 35-21 triumph over Marshall – The Iowa Colony Pioneers moved closer to clinching a playoff spot for the second straight season with a 35-21 come-from-behind triumph against Fort Bend Marshall, Oct. 26 in 9-5A Division 2 Football action at Hall Stadium in Missouri City. Iowa Colony moved its record to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in district with the victory. Quarterback Carson White completed 11 of 20 passes for 185 yards and three TD’s, while Eric Mosley added 118 yards on the ground and a 21-yard scoring run, which sealed the win. Jayden Warren also provided a 62-yard catch and run reception to give Iowa Colony the lead for the first time at 28-21 late in the fourth quarter. Jarvis Solomon intercepted a pair of Marshall passes and Adrian Porter Jr. delivered a team-leading 13 tackles. Iowa Colony next plays Terry at Rosenberg’s Traylor Stadium, Saturday at 11 a.m.

Keithley named to Texas HS Football Hall of Fame – Former Alvin High School Football great Gary Keithley was among nine prep legends who were named to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame’s 2025 Class. Keithley (who was chosen in the 1969 and Before Category) guided Alvin to the 1968 Class 3A State Semifinals with the Yellowjackets going a program-best 12-1. Keithley passed for 1,789 yards and 21 touchdowns (both of which still school records at Alvin), while also scoring 15 touchdowns on the ground and averaging 42.5 yards as the team’s punter as well. Keithley went to play his collegiate ball at the University of Texas at El Paso, while also playing in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Canadian Football League with the BC Lions. Induction ceremonies for the 2025 TXHSFB Hall of Fame class are scheduled for May 10 in Waco. Other inductees include Patrick Mahomes/Whitehouse HS (2010s), Robert Griffin III/Copperas Cove (2000s), Pat Thomas/Plano HS (1970s) and Jeff Traylor/Gilmer HS (Eddie Joseph Coach Category).

Yellowjackets’ Football drops 42-21 decision to Manvel – The Alvin Yellowjackets dropped a 42-21 decision to Manvel in 22-6A Football action, Oct. 18 at AISD Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Drew Bingham scored on a 1-yard keeper for Alvin’s first touchdown, while Bingham connected with Chuck Phillips for a 25-yard TD pass and Samuel Fernandez also scored on a 7-yard rushing TD. Fernandez paced Alvin offensively with 107 yards on 20 carries and one touchdown. The Jackets next play Dawson, Friday at “The Rig” in Pearland at 7 p.m.

Lady Maverick Cross Country Duo advances to state – The Manvel High School Girls’ Cross Country duo of Danna Ramirez and Jannie Cardenas both earned state qualifying berths after solid performances at the Region III-6A Meet in Huntsville last weekend. Ramirez finished 18th with a time of 19:18.10, while Cardenas was 19th with a time of 19:18.70. Ramirez and Cardenas will next advance to the Class 6A State Meet, Nov. 1 in Round Rock.

Mavericks’ Football remains in contention for playoff spot – The Manvel Mavericks pulled away with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to defeat Alvin, 42-21 in 22-6A Football action, Oct. 18 at AISD Memorial Stadium in Alvin. Cam Renfro completed 13 of 16 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mavs offensively, while Bruce Robinson blazed 67 yards with a blocked field goal touchdown return to give Manvel (4-4 overall, 4-2 in district) a 14-7 lead at halftime. Joshua Irvin caught a pair of TD passes for Manvel and Xavier Brown and Renfro added rushing TD’s on the ground. The Mavs have a bye week this weekend, before hosting Dawson, Nov. 1 at AISD Freedom Field at 7 p.m.

Collins receives invitation for All-American Game – Shadow Creek Volleyball standout MacKenzie Collins has been to invited to play in the 2024-2025 Under Armor Next All-American Game in Orlando Florida. Collins leads the playoff bound Lady Sharks with 498 kills this season, while ranking second on the team in aces with 39. Shadow Creek carries a 30-10 overall record and will be competing in the Class 6A playoffs as the third seed from 22-6A

Iowa Colony Pioneer Report

Pioneers roll to victory over Lamar Consolidated – The Iowa Colony Pioneers rolled to a 68-13 victory over Lamar Consolidated in 9-5A Division 2 Football action, Oct. 18 at AISD Freedom Field. The Pioneers moved their record to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in district with the win. Eric Mosley led the Pioneers with 99 yards on 12 carries and four TD’s, while quarterback Carson White added a pair of touchdowns on the ground as well. Iowa Colony next plays Fort Bend Marshall, Saturday at Hall Stadium in Missouri City at 11 a.m.

Banner drive highlights Yellowjackets’ 35-15 victory – The Alvin Yellowjackets captured a 35-15 victory over Sam Rayburn in 22-6A Football action, Oct. 3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Pasadena. The win improved the Jackets’ record to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in district play. The victory was highlighted by a banner 24-play, 99-yard drive, which was climaxed by Carlos Medina’s 1-yard touchdown run to close the first half. The possession consumed the entire second quarter along with the final 46 seconds of the first quarter. Meka Phillips also scored on a 5-yard run for Alvin, while Cameron Fobbs scored on runs of 22 and 51 yards. The Jackets have a bye this coming weekend, before returning to action on Oct. 18 against Manvel at home.

Yellowjackets’ Water Polo opens playoffs with first round win – The Alvin Yellowjackets rolled to a 15-4 home triumph over Bellaire in the first round of the UIL Water Polo Boys’ Playoffs, Tuesday night. Victor Garza led the way with seven goals, while Dax Taylor pierced the net five times. Ayden Guess added a pair of goals and Gordon Larson chipped in a score as well. The Jackets next face Jersey Village in the area round on Saturday.

Lady Yellowjackets outlast South Houston in five sets – The Alvin Lady Yellowjackets travelled to South Houston and came away with a 25-10, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25 and 15-10 five-set road victory, Tuesday night. Match totals included Brooklyn Morris with 20 kills and 17 digs for a double double, Reece Shotwell with 16 assists and 14 digs for a double double along with six kills, Jatara Roland with 16 assists and five digs, Kennedi Hansen with 13 digs, Cameryn Mercer with 11 digs and Payton Ashley with five kills. Mavericks’ Football rolls to win over South Houston – The Manvel Mavericks rolled to a 49-10 triumph over South Houston, Oct. 4 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Pasadena. The win improved the Mavs’ district mark to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the 22-6A Football Standings. The Mavs were led by a season-high 296 yards on the ground, which featured Aycee Johnson with 135 yards on 18 carries and Xaiden Brown with 107 yards on 14 carries. Grant Stewart delivered TD interception returns of 65 and 46 yards and quarterback Cam Renfro scored on a pair of keepers as well. The Mavs next host Sam Rayburn for homecoming, Friday at AISD Freedom Field at 7 p.m.

Sharks wins fifth straight – The Shadow Creek Sharks moved their record to a perfect 4-0 in the 22-6A Football Standings with a 56-15 victory over Dobie, Oct. 4 at Freedom Field in Iowa Colony. Sharks’ junior speedster Chris Stewart hauled in scoring receptions of 16 and 15 yards, while dashing for a pair of special team TD’s on punt returns of 78 and 56 yards. Quarterback Joseph Stewart also went 13 of 18 through the air for 279 yards and three TD’s. The Sharks (5-1 overall) next play Memorial, Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Pasadena at 2 p.m.

Lady Pioneers edged at Ball in five sets – The Iowa Colony Lady Pioneers were edged at Galveston Ball in five sets by 21-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-23 and 15-17 scores on Tuesday. Match totals for the Lady Pioneers (15-12 overall, 3-5 in 20-5A) included Taylor Bonner Williams with 22 kills and 11 digs for a double double, Janae Garner with 11 kills and eight blocks, Breia Dixon with 24 assists and 15 digs for a double double, Ashlyn Terry with 15 assists and 14 digs for a double double, Layla Gamez with 19 digs and Hannah Lane with 16 digs. Former Yellowjacket Baseball Coach among 2025 THSBCA HOF Class – Former Alvin Yellowjackets’ Head Baseball Coach Mike Rogers was among four individuals who have been named to the 2025 Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame class. Rogers who ended his 40-year coaching career with exactly 800 victories, served as the Yellowjackets’ HBC from 2002-2013, guiding the team to the playoff seven times, which included a 33-7 record and regional semifinal appearance in 2008. Rogers picked up Career Win No. 500 with Alvin in 2012. Rogers will be the second THSBCA Hall inductee with Alvin connections with Nolan Ryan being named in 2021. Other coaching stops for Rogers included Buna, Port Arthur Jefferson, Jasper and Lake Travis where he coaching his final nine seasons before retiring in 2022.

Jackets’ Football drops Homecoming contest to South Houston – The Alvin Yellowjackets dropped a 35-17 decision to South Houston in 22-6A Football action in Alvin on Sept. 27. Running back Samuel Fernandez rushed for 157 yards and scoring runs of 16 and 8 yards, while Enrique Garza booted a 24-yard field through the uprights. The Jackets (1-4 overall, 0-3 in district) next play Rayburn, Thursday at Pasadena Veterans’ Memorial Stadium with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

Mavericks’ Football comes up short against Pearland – The Manvel Mavericks suffered a 42-18 defeat to Pearland, Sept. 27 at AISD Freedom Field in Iowa Colony. The Mavericks saw their record drop to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in 22-6A with the defeat. Quarterback Cam Renfro (13 of 32 for 275 yards, three touchdowns) threw TD passes of 67 yards to Khalil Ali, 88 yards to Antoine Walker and 23 yards to Joshua Irvin. Wilder had three receptions for 113 yards overall with the TD reception. The Mavs next play South Houston, Friday at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Match totals for Lady Mavs included Nevaeh English with 11 kills, Kadia Jackson and London King with six kills apiece, Kamille Jackson with six blocks, Emerson Chang and Rylan Lilly with 10 digs each and Kenedy Massie with 25 assists. Pioneers’ 14-game regular season streak snapped by Randle – The Iowa Colony Pioneers suffered a 30-10 defeat to Richmond Randle in 9-5A Division 2 Football action, Sept. 26 at Freedom Field in Iowa Colony. The defeat snapped Iowa Colony’s 14-game regular season win streak. The Pioneers currently hold a 4-1 overall record and are 1-1 in district. Andy Cruz booted a 20-yard field goal and quarterback Carson White tossed a 10-yard scoring pass to Cameron Seriale to account for the IC tallies. The Pioneers have a bye week this weekend and next return to action on Oct. 11 when they play at Santa Fe at 7 p.m.

Pioneers’ Football defeats Baytown Lee in district opener – The Iowa Colony Pioneers moved their record to 4-0 overall with a 63-14 triumph over Baytown Lee in their 9-5A Division 2 Football opener at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown, Sept. 20. The Pioneers jumped to a quick 21-0 first half lead on Carson White’s 9-yard QB keeper and pair of White scoring passes to Antoine Martin. Lee pulled within 21-14 late in the second quarter, but White’s 9-yard TD toss to Jayden Warren regained a two touchdown cushion at for IC at 28-14 at intermission and Iowa Colony then pulled away during the final 24 minutes. White connected with Ian Hill (27 yards) and Warren (30 yards) with TD passes, while Denim Barnes (35 yards) and Mikah Barnes (4 yards) added rushing scores. The Pioneers next host Richmond Randle, Thursday at Freedom Field at 7 p.m.

Garza boots milestone 47-yard field goal in Jackets’ loss – Enrique Garza booted a 47-yard field goal in the Alvin Yellowjackets’ 42-17 defeat to Shadow Creek in their 22-6A Football opener on Sept. 13. Garza’s FG tied Jackson Basalliere (2010 vs. Pearland) and Clay Stagg (1988 vs. Texas City) for the longest in AHS history. Quarterback Drew Bingham also scored a pair of touchdowns on 3 and 4-yard keepers. Holding a 1-2 overall record, the Jackets next play Pearland, Friday at “The Rig” at 7 p.m.

Lady Yellowjackets’ Volleyball sweeps Elsik – The Alvin Lady Yellowjackets delivered a 25-13, 25-16 and 25-23 sweep over Elsik in non-district volleyball action, Sept. 13 in Alief. Match totals for Alvin included Laila Johnson with nine kills, Brooklyn Morris with five kills, Reece Shotwell with four kills, 19 assists and 11 digs for a double double, Payton Ashley with four kills, Camryn Mercer with 12 digs and Morgan Gassaway with five assists. Alvin Water Polo picks up two victories – The Alvin High School Water Polo teams picked up a pair of home victories over Iowa Colony, Tuesday. The Yellowjackets earned a 20-6 win in the boys’ match behind three Oscar Santos goals and two apiece by Ayden Guess and Spencer Pritt. Alvin moved its record to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in district with the victory. The Lady Yellowjackets also reached the win column on Tuesday, defeating Iowa Colony by a 21-12 count. Scoring included Zosia Guess with five goals and Kendall Dudley and Victoria Hernandez with four goals each.

Mavericks gain first win of season – The Manvel Mavericks snapped a two-game skid and picked up their first win of the 2024 football season with a 75-21 home triumph over Pasadena Memorial in their 22-6A opener, Sept. 12 at Freedom Field in Iowa Colony. Manvel (1-2 overall) rolled up a season-high 522 yards and scored on all nine first half possessions. Sophomore Brayden Tuiasosopo shined in his varsity debut at quarterback, completing 13 of 15 passes for 145 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Cam Renfro also completed 9 of 12 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. The Mavs next play Shadow Creek in the third annual HYY 288/Bill Lewis Gridiron Classic, Friday at Freedom Field at 7 p.m. The Mavericks will serve as the visitors for the third ever meeting between the area schools.

Lady Mavericks roll to win over Alvin – The Manvel Lady Mavericks rolled to a 25-3, 25-7 and 25-3 straight set win over Alvin in 22-6A Volleyball action, Tuesday night. Leading the way for the Lady Mavs was Nevaeh English with 14 kills and three blocks, Kenedy Massie with 27 assists and six digs, Kaycee Pennie with seven kills, Cynthia Daniels with five kills and Emerson Chang and Samantha Guikema with nine digs each. Manvel moved its record to 21-9 overall and 4-2 in 22-6A with the victory.

Mavericks’ Cross Country competes at La Porte Meet – The Manvel Mavericks competed at the La Porte Cross Country Meet last weekend with the Lady Mavericks turning in a second place team performance and the Mavericks placing fourth in the boys’ division. Top finishes included Jannine Cardenas with a second place, Jessica Cardenas with a seventh place, Danna Ramirez in 10th place, Isaac Rodas in 17th place, Nathan Hubenak in 21st place and Marcus Lewis in 24th place.

Sharks win 22-6A football opener – The Shadow Creek Sharks came away with a 42-17 victory over Alvin in their 22-6A Football opener, Sept. 13 in Alvin. The Sharks improved to 2-1 overall with the win. Quarterback Joseph Stewart threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to Chris Stewart and Ashton Jones also had a receiving TD for Shadow Creek. George Kirkland and Tristan Willis scored rushing TD’s for the Sharks as well. The Sharks next host Manvel on Friday in the third annual HWY 288/Bill Lewis Gridiron Classic at Freedom Field at 7 p.m.

Lady Sharks’ Volleyball sweeps Memorial – The Shadow Creek Lady Sharks remained unbeaten in the 22-6A volleyball ranks with a 25-12, 25-20 and 25-10 straight set sweep over Pasadena Memorial on Sept. 13. Leading the way for the Lady Sharks (24-7 overall, 5-0) was Mckenzie Collins with 13 kills, Tamarria Mitchell and Aspen Brown with 11 kills apiece, Bella Law with 27 assists and 16 digs for a double double and Kelly Kelsick with 11 assists and 14 digs for a double double. Pioneers’ Football pull away from Elsik – The Iowa Colony Pioneers moved their record to 3-0 overall with a 47-14 home victory over Elsik in non-district football action, Sept. 13. The contest served as the final tune-up for the Pioneers as they play Baytown Lee in their 9-5A Division 2 opener, Friday at Baytown’s Stallworth Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Iowa Colony rolled to an early 28-0 first half lead behind Carson White’s TD passes of 76 and 39 yards to Antoine Martin. While Elsik pulled within 28-14 at the break, the Pioneers put the game away with 19 unanswered points during the second half. Andy Cruz booted a 29-yard field goal, while White threw another TD toss to Jayden Warren and also reached the end zone with a 9-yard QB keeper.

Iowa Colony Volleyball drops match to Santa Fe – The Iowa Colony Lady Pioneers dropped a 21-25, 17-25 and 21-25 straight set home decision to Santa Fe in 20-5A Volleyball action on Tuesday. Match totals for the Lady Pioneers included Taylor Bonner Williams with eight kills, Hannah Lane and Je`Dyn Parker with four kills each, Ashlyn Terry with 11 assists and 10 digs for a double double and Breia Dixon with 10 digs. Yellowjackets’ Football rolls to win over Dulles – The Alvin Yellowjackets rolled to a 21-0 victory over Dulles in non-district football action, Sept. 5 at Hall Stadium in Missouri City. Quarterback Drew Bingham rushed for 184 yards on 24 carries and one touchdown, while Sammy Fernandez added 117 yards on 23 carries and one TD and Keegan Moore added 99 yards on the ground. The Yellowjackets’ defense also came up with two big stops inside on their own territory early to keep the game scoreless until Bingham’s two-yard QB sneak in the opening period. Quarterback Carson White passed for 132 yards and threw TD passes of 75 and four yards to Jayden Warren and Jacody Miles also caught a 16-yard scoring toss in the contest. After Bastrop struck for two touchdowns to lead 12-0 on the game’s two first drives, the Jackets drove 89 yards in 12 plays with quarterback Drew Bingham scoring from a yard out on a sneak to cut the margin to 12-6. Iowa Colony Volleyball wins bronze bracket at tourney – The Iowa Colony Volleyball Girls won three of their five matches last weekend at the Bastrop Tournament to win the Bronze Bracket Championship. Coached by new head coach Tracy Klembus, the Lady Pioneers also opened the season last week by rallying from a two sets to none deficit to edge Alvin in a five-set thriller. The Lady Pioneers next compete at the Needville Tournament this weekend.
