On Saturday, April 9, 13 teams from Alvin ISD participated in the District SeaPerch tournament.
SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
During the competition students had to successfully complete the time obstacle course and the mission course. The course simulated what an ROV mission would look like on Mars.
The “Sea Cobras," from McNair Junior High, was the overall winner. The team, coached by Dawn Bryant, has already entered to compete at the International SeaPerch competition which will be held at the University of Maryland in June.
